What is the difference between
Therapist, Counselor, Clinician, and Psychotherapist?
These titles are interchangeable, just be sure that your professional counselor is licensed by a giverning board. It is a professional standard that the full title of the degree licensed be spelled out after the Counselor's name.
Marriage and Family Therapists offer early crisis intervention as well as focused psychotherapy to resolve conflicts and reduce symptoms in a reasonable and brief period of time. Most major insurance accepted.
Marriage and family therapists provide a "systemic" orientation...we believe that an individual exists within the context of a system (family). Mental, physical, and emotional difficulties must be examined through the lens of a whole life - childhood, parenting, education, loss, professional experience, spirituality - this is a philosophy consistent with the belief that we are social beings and must cope effectively (successfully!) within our society.

Premarital Counseling:
Should couples pursue premarital counseling if they have already lived together and feel that things are going great? Yes! Statistics on marital satisfaction show that couples who review their lifelong plans, in advance of marriage, report greater levels of marital joy and lower rates of divorce. Issues of finances, prenuptial agreements, child-rearing, and step-children are some of life's common challenges and typically relationship obstacles. There are ways to lessen the stressors of daily life and find mutual ways of living that makes for a happy marriage!
Research shows that individuals who volunteer in community activities report less depression, live longer, and find greater joy in their relationships. Read more here
